Perhaps the most satisfying flying skill a student pilot learns is the landing. However, landing phase errors are responsible for nearly half of all general aviation mishaps. By fortifying your knowledge of the "whys" and "wherefores" of approach and landing incidents, you can become a safer pilot.

Safe landings require an understanding not only of the principles and techniques but also an understanding of undershooting and cross-control stalls which can happen before you reach the runway. Also, you need to be aware of hard landings, porpoising, and loss of directional control-problems encountered after reaching the runway.

Learning the theory of landings and what to consider and watch out for will make you a safer pilot.
